First of all I don't know who the owner of this map is so I can't give credit to him/her for this amazing map. These little edits are something I think should be in the game, I just wanted to advance my Hammer editing skills since I just started a few days ago.

These little edits are something I think should be in the game, I just wanted to advance my Hammer editing skills since I just started a few days ago.

I made a typing error. These edits are not something I think should be put into the map but are something which I thought would be useful.

That looks very impressive. I been thinking about making a renginered version of the map good gamers run currently for darkrp and have all the optimizations I can to reduce the amount of content loaded as currently very very inefficient which I have mentioned for months which partly reason why the server lags so horribly.

Yeah I noticed that there's a lot of textured brushes which go out of the map as well as some brushes which are colliding with others. Would be good to do an overhaul of the map :)

Mechanic Shop With Vehicle Lifts

This is bar far my favourite but the most frustrating edit I have made. Getting these lifts to work correctly was a pain in the a**. My original plan was to use a func_door so I only had to use one button, but every time they would lift up they would come out of the ground, showing the nodraw brush below. In the end I had to use a func_movelinear with two buttons for open and close:













As you can see, these lifts have been designed to work with the TDM pack that the server uses. This is something which would be very useful to the community when modding vehicles or just roleplaying in general.

Also as you know there is nothing at the end of that street, just a dead end. This mechanic shop would make a great addition to the map and I'm sure that players would love it, I know I would as it's much more efficient to use these lifts rather than holding your car up with a prop to add some neon to your car. I'm sure a more experienced mapper in this community could spruce this design up and make it fit in with the map more and optimize it more efficiently if needed.

  • The car dealer having a window is a good idea for players to legitimately RP a forecourt.
  • I think more could be done with the hallway leading up to that window.
  • I would personally have the ramps rest on the ground, then angle up to allow other vehicles to enter.
  • The wood texture for the ceiling of the garage looks... repetitive.
  • Try to make door-frames, it'll make it look nicer.
  • You should use func_movelinear if it's going to move, in a linear fashion.
  • You can have the open and close function on the same button.
I'd give it a 8/10 for effort. With a little cleaning up, it would be better.

Any chance of a copy so I can get up-close and personal with the edits?
